Garic Sets the Standard With Environmentally Friendly Products
For the last nine years Garic has been committed to developing greener products. Initial steps in this direction led to the production of an innovative solar powered toilet (Solar Loo), winning the company a prestigious ‘Green Apple Environmental Award’. This has led Garic to extend this technology to its latest range of environmentally friendly solar powered welfare cabins – the 12 Volt Eco Combi Cabin. Steve Booth, Hire/Sales Desk Manager of Garic explains: “The Solar Loo was very successful and led to numerous other enquiries. BAA approached us to develop a greener welfare cabin to help them reduce their carbon footprint and get planning permission for Heathrow’s Terminal 5. Increasingly companies want to be energy efficient and we can help them to do that with our products range.” Initially some of Garic’s customers were concerned that taking the “green approach” might mean they had to compromise when it came to quality and costs. Steve explains: “The benefits speak for themselves. Compared to a standard 240 volt generator welfare unit, the 12v Eco Combi is 50% cheaper to run, with 60% less emissions, noise levels reduced by 80% and is highly efficient with water. Importantly, the hire rates are the same as a standard 240v unit and it’s just as reliable. A great alternative, particularly for remote areas.” The cabin is powered through solar panels on the roof that support an energy management system in the cabin. The advanced technology developed by Garic ensures that the unit is supplied with constant power, significantly reducing noise and fuel consumption. “We believe in giving our customers choice and many of them are now looking for environmentally friendly alternatives. With climate control high on the agenda, if anything, demand for the Eco Combi welfare unit is set to increase” says Steve.
